The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Eastern Mercer County in central New Jersey... Middlesex County in northern New Jersey... Southeastern Morris County in northern New Jersey... Somerset County in northern New Jersey... East Central Hunterdon County in northwestern New Jersey...

* Until midnight EDT.

* At 605 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1.5 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas.

* Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Somerville, Somerset, Edison, Old Bridge, East Brunswick, Bridgewater, South Brunswick, Sayreville, North Brunswick, and Carteret. This includes the following highways... New Jersey Turnpike between exits 8 and 13. Interstate 78 in New Jersey between mile markers 26 and 42. Interstate 295 in New Jersey between mile markers 58 and 69. Interstate 195 in New Jersey between mile markers 0 and 8. Interstate 287 in New Jersey between mile markers 0 and 30. Garden State Parkway between mile markers 121 and 134.
