THIS IS A MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT:

THE RAHWAY RIVER IS RISING STEADILY AND RAPIDLY.

Currently, the accumulating rain has created flash floods, impassible roadways, and dangerous circumstances for those individuals who are not safely located within their homes.  

STAY HOME IF YOU ARE IN A SAFE LOCATION.  If you chance leaving your home, you risk your safety, the safety of your vehicles, and the safety of any first reponders who may need to effect an emergency rescue.

Many residents have reported roadways being impassible and have requested barricades.  Barricades will become airborne if deployed in the midst of a storm.  Residents SHOULD expect that low-lying areas and roadways that typically flood ARE FLOODED OR WILL FLOOD.  

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WALK AROUND TO SURVEY THE CURRENT WEATHER AND ITS EFFECTS.

The Township of Cranford Office of Emergency Management has been activated and is working with the Police Department, Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services to ensure no interruptions in services.  All agencies are at a full complement and have supplemented manpower to ensure adequate response power.

RESERVE 9-1-1 FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY.  We have multiple reports of flooding in basements, but must prioritize which situations pose immediate threats to life or safety when triaiging our responses.
