Alert
Roadways are largely impassible due to flash flooding. Do not drive through flooded waters because you do not know how deep the water is, if manhole covers have lifted, or if objects are submerged. This is an extremely dangerous time as the storm water continues to accumulate.
While the flash flooding may subside in the next few hours, THE RIVER WILL CONTINUE TO RISE OVERNIGHT AND EXCEED BANKFALL.
Our water rescue unit has been deployed to conduct rescues of individuals trapped in vehicles. The Cranford Police and Fire Departments have water rescue units staffed should there be a need for emergency rescue.
The Cranford Office of Emergency Management and Township Committee is preparing a shelter at the Cranford Community Center beginning tomorrow morning, 09/02/2021 should individuals become displaced.
Be a good neighbor - and check on your neighbors, ensure that they are getting these updates, and ask them to follow our NIXLE and Social Media platforms for steady updates as they become available.
RIVER APPROACHING MAJOR FLOOD STAGE. SHELTER IN PLACE IF YOUR HOME IS SAFE. ROADWAYS IMPASSIBLE. 9-1-1 FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY.
