The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a

* Flood Warning for Urban area and small stream in... Bergen County in northeastern New Jersey... Essex County in northeastern New Jersey... Hudson County in northeastern New Jersey... Passaic County in northeastern New Jersey... Union County in northeastern New Jersey... Bronx County in southeastern New York... Kings (Brooklyn) County in southeastern New York... Western Nassau County in southeastern New York... New York (Manhattan) County in southeastern New York... Queens County in southeastern New York... Richmond (Staten Island) County in southeastern New York... Southern Westchester County in southeastern New York...

* Until 645 AM EDT.

* At 253 AM EDT, gauge reports at rivers and streams indicated residual flooding. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area with rivers and streams above their flood stages and various roads still flooded. Some of the rivers currently above their flood stage include Pascack River at Westwood, NJ, the Third River at Bloomfield, NJ, and the Saddle River at Ridgewood, NJ as well as the Bronx River at Bronx Botanical Gardens, NY. Between 5 and 10 inches of rain have fallen according to radar estimates.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Newark, Jersey City, Jamaica, Yonkers, Paterson, Elizabeth, Flatbush, New Rochelle, Flushing, Passaic, Bayonne, White Plains, Wayne, Mott Haven, Hoboken, Plainfield, Bloomfield, East Tremont, Hackensack and Linden.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
