Flood Warning until 05:23PM Friday

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flood Warning for the Potomac River at Shepherdstown.

* From this evening to tomorrow afternoon.

* At 4:30 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 6.7 feet, or 8.3 feet below flood stage.

* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.

* Minor flooding is forecast.

* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this evening to a crest of 17.1 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow morning.

* Impact...At 16.0 feet, Water goes over the banks of the Potomac near the mouth of the Opequon River.

* Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 17.1 feet on 04/29/1973.

* AFFECTED AREAS: WASHINGTON, MD ... BERKELEY, WV ... JEFFERSON, WV
