SPECIAL GARBAGE PICKUP NEXT WEEK DUE TO TROPICAL STORM IDA
Due to the unprecedented rainfall totals and subsequent flooding from Tropical Storm Ida a special garbage pickup will be added on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH in order to assist residents who may have damaged items to dispose of due to water accumulating in basements. Garbage pickup will occur as usual on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH and residents may dispose of any water damaged items that fit in the cart along with regular weekly garbage. The Department of Public Works will then collect carts again on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH. In addition to collecting carts a second time, the Department of Public Works will also pick up ONE BULK ITEM on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH. NO STICKER IS REQUIRED FOR THIS PICKUP however, all other disposal regulations with regard to hazardous waste, bagging/wrapping of upholstered items, etc...apply.. For Thursday or Friday's pickup of carts, if you typically have room in your cart, consider allowing a neighbor who may not to put water damaged items into yours. Finally, please only place bulk items out for the special pickup that were damaged by Tropical Storm Ida yesterday. Regular bulk items can be disposed of as usual on the last garbage day of the month.
