Advisory

Be aware of phone scam artists. See email & web message for details.

The Dearborn Police Department is asking citizens to remain alert for people, claiming to be from government agencies, requesting payment for fines, taxes, and other collections.  Government agencies rarely if ever communicate via email, telephone, or social media when collecting funds from citizens.  If you are called by anyone, claiming to be from a government agency, request an in person meeting to discuss the matter and use a local police department as the meeting location. If approached in person by someone claiming to be a government agent, please request identification from the subject, and do not hesitate to call the police to assist you in verifying the identity of the subject.  The Dearborn Police Department will never call requesting cash, money transfers, gift cards, etc. to pay for fines. People conducting fraudulent activities will go to extreme measures to conceal their true identity, so asking a few basic questions often results in them abandoning their plans.
