Official Statement from the Township of Raritan
regarding the Impact from the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida
 
Raritan Township experienced extensive impact from the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida over the last 24 hours. Unfortunately, we have seen the loss of life as a result of the tremendous amount of rain in a very short period of time. We extend our thoughts and prayers during these difficult times to all families that have been impacted by the storm.
The storm caused extensive flooding and damage throughout the region as well. All our local emergency response teams and public works have been responding to the various incidents and needs throughout the Township. This storm has impacted many individuals and properties throughout the Township and we are working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.

Mayor Gary Hazard shared, “On behalf of the entire Township Committee we would like to extend our condolences to the families who have lost loved ones. We thank our first responders for their tremendous efforts in working to help and protect the residents of Raritan Township. The Township Committee and I are committed to work with our Departments and Agencies as we recover from the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida.”

During the next several days the Township will continue to work towards the restoration of our roadways and other infrastructure that have sustained damage from this storm. Please adhere to all signs and roadblocks to protect your safety and our roadworkers and first responders.
