Narrative:
On September 1, 2021 at about 10:09 pm, the Thousand Oaks Police Department and the Ventura County Fire Department responded to a solo vehicle injury traffic collision on Hillcrest Drive west of Citation Way. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the driver along with four other occupants lying on the ground near the wrecked vehicle. The driver as well as all the passengers sustained serious injuries. The driver and two passengers were transported to Los Robles Hospital and the other two passengers were transported to Ventura County Medical Center. One of the transported passengers was treated by medical personnel but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The initial investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling westbound on Hillcrest Drive at a high rate of speed as it left the roadway and collided with a tree just west of Citation Way.

The cause of the collision is under investigation by the Thousand Oaks Police Department Traffic Bureau.  As of now, it appears speed was a contributing factor. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputy Jason Cashmark at (805) 373-2311.
