STORM INFORMATION UPDATE

STORM UPDATE

I hope you and your families are safe after the historic rainfall that New Jersey received from the remnants of Hurricane Ida.

As I listen to news reports, I thank God that we in Saddle Brook, as bad as the flooding was, were spared the loss of life and injuries that residents of other communities have suffered.

I assure you that we are doing everything we can to assist residents in need. I am grateful to our emergency response team – Police, Fire. Ambulance and D.P.W. for all they have done and are still doing to help our community and residents.

At this time the Saddle River is receding slowly, but fortunately the water that flooded all streets has now receded. The only area still affected is the walking path in Saddle River County Park. Saddle River Road, which was impassable, is now open to vehicular traffic.

According to one news report, we received 3.84 inches of rain in a one hour period from approximately 9:56 - 10:56 PM.  A little under 9 inches of rain fell yesterday evening.

By all accounts this rainfall was unprecedented affecting not only New Jersey, but the surrounding states as well.

Please check our website saddlebrooknj.us for updates.   Our Building Department has posted information concerning home repairs. The Township is waiving all local fees for permits to assist residents who experienced storm damage.

Recycling will take place as scheduled tomorrow, Friday, September 3rd. This week is paper and cardboard.

Please reach out to us if we need assistance. If urgent, call Saddle Brook Police Department at 201-843-7000. For emergencies dial 9-1-1. The phone number for non-urgent matters is 201-587-2912.
