RE: WAYNE COUNTY EMERGENCY RELIEF OPPORTUNITY FOR HOUSEHOLDS IMPACTED BY THE JUNE 25th and 26th, 2021 FLOODING
Flood Assistance Available for Home Owners that were denied FEMA Assistance for the June 25th and 26th Flooding
September 2, 2021
On July 29, 2021, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced a plan to utilize $10 million in state general funds to provide emergency relief to households and businesses impacted by heavy rainfall and flooding on June 25th and 26th.
The funding is being allocated to the City of Detroit, and Wayne and Washtenaw counties to set up residential gap funding grant programs to assist households that were not eligible for federal assistance or not provided adequate resources from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Wayne County received a total allocation of $5,593,057 dollars and is responsible for managing this program. Funding will cover damages and costs that had not been covered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) or private property insurance. This funding is intended to cover the costs of tangible goods and belongings such as carpets, couches, drywall, and food. Additionally, funding may be used to cover contracted labor if the applicant can provide itemized quotes or receipts from their contractor. The County will have an online application available beginning on Tuesday, September 7, 2021
