Three Suspects Taken Into Custody After a Vehicle Pursuit Ends at the Colorado River

SUSPECT(S): Raquel Acosta, Age 29, Resident of Bullhead City, AZ
Jessica Lozano, Age 23, Resident of Mohave Valley, CA
Anthony Garcia, Age 42, Resident of Needles, CA
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Thursday, September 2, 2021, at approximately 1:45 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle reported stolen by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department out of Laughlin, Nevada. The vehicle failed to yield and led deputies on a pursuit through residential streets in Needles. The pursuit terminated at the Colorado River shoreline, north of the Needles bridge. The driver, Raquel Acosta, was taken into custody immediately. Two suspects, Anthony Garcia and Jessica Lozano, fled on foot from the vehicle and jumped into the Colorado River in an attempt to elude capture. Deputies continued pursuing Garcia and Lozano who were swimming in the Colorado River. Citizens who were out boating picked up Lozano in the river and dropped her off at the Needles Marina where she was taken into custody by deputies. Garcia continued swimming down river while hiding under docks on the Arizona side. Garcia was ultimately taken into custody by deputies south of the Needles Marina by Rio Buena Vista on the Colorado River.
Acosta was booked at the Coloroado River Station jail for CVC10851(A)- Grand Theft Auto and CVC2800.2(A)- Felony Evading with a bail amount of $100,000.00, pending a court hearing.
Lozano was tansferred and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for CVC10851(A) Grand Theft Auto and an outstanding warrant with a bail amount of $150,000.00, pending a court hearing.
Garcia was booked at Colorado River Station jail for PC496D(A) Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and 2 outstanding warrants with a bail amount of $100,000.00, pending a court hearing .
