Advisory

School is back in session - Tuesday 9.7.21 - Drive safely and watch for pedestrians!

As the summer comes to an end, it is time to prepare for the 2021-2022 school year.

The Pine Hill School District 2021-2022 school year begins on
Tuesday, September 7, 2021

We want to remind the residents of Pine Hill, their visitors and those who travel through our Borough there will be many school buses traveling the roadways, along with young children making their way to school on bicycles and walking along the sidewalks.  To help avoid frustration while traveling and to help ensure the safety of our children;

  • Leave ten minutes early to allow for increased travel time due to school buses
  • Do not drive distracted! This includes;
    • Texting
    • Using a cell phone or smartphone
    • Eating and drinking
    • Talking to passengers
    • Grooming
    • Reading, including maps
    • Using a navigation system
    • Watching a video
    • Adjusting a radio or Bluetooth device
  • Obey all speed limits and traffic regulations in School Zones and watch for Crossing Guards.  The early morning or afternoon sun glare may make it difficult to see Crossing Guards as they help our children safely across the street.
  • If you are a parent or guardian dropping off a student, it is essential that you follow all parking, drop off, and pick-up regulations for your child's school.
  • Be cognizant of all school zones and school bus stops along your daily commute.
  • Do not attempt to pass a school bus that has stopped to allow children to board or exit.  There is zero tolerance for this type of offense and you will be issued a summons.

All policies, regulations, and procedures throughout the district are in place to provide the safest possible environment for the students, staff, and visitors.  Familiarize yourself with the general policies and procedures for visitors at your child's school, which will include entering through the main entrance doors, checking in at the main office, presenting photo ID, not opening secure entrances/exits for others, in addition to all COVID-19 related policies.  Here is a link to the Pine Hill School District September Newsletter with additional information.

We encourage all residents to allow additional travel time in the area and expect minor delays.  Follow us on Facebook and check our webpage, www.pinehillpd.com for updates.

We cannot emphasize enough, IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.  If you see suspicious individuals, activity or packages in the area, dial 9-1-1 immediately.  If you see something concerning at a school, but do not feel it is an emergency, speak with a school district staff member immediately.  The Pine Hill Police Department, Pine Hill Fire Department, Pine Hill School District staff, residents, and visitors to Pine Hill must work together to ensure the safety of our community, especially the children.
