Tropical Storm Ida Recovery

Borough of Haledon

A Message from the Office of the Mayor

Our Haledon Community,

As your proud Mayor, my thoughts and prayers remain with everyone affected by Tropical Storm Ida. During  the  storm,  the  Haledon Police  Department,  Haledon  Fire  Department,  Haledon  Department  of Public Works, and Haledon Office of Emergency Management, worked tirelessly to keep our community safe  and secure.  Our  emergency  response  teams  rescued  numerous individuals  from  flooded  vehicles, homes and businesses. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Over twenty (20) residents were  evacuated and  transported  to  our  shelter  at  the  Haledon  Municipal  Complex.  The  evacuees  were  provided  food, water, phone charging stations, sleeping-kots and blankets. The Haledon DPW is continuing with cleanup efforts throughout the borough.   Our Recycling Center remains available to our residents as well.

I am thrilled  to  announce  that  the  Federal  Emergency Management  Agency  (FEMA)  has  officially  declared Passaic  County  eligible  for  Individual  Assistance.  Both  insured  and uninsured  residents  can  apply  for relief, which may include reimbursement for eligible loses, due to Tropical Storm Ida.   To apply,  please follow this link: https://www.fema.gov/disaster/4614

Although we have made tremendous progress, the fight against COVID-19 continues. As of this  writing, since   the   start  of   the   pandemic,   there   have   been   1,434   positive   cases  of   COVID-19   in  Haledon; unfortunately, 28 Haledon residents have perished from complications of COVID-19. Just today, Haledon reported fourteen (14) new cases of COVID-19, with ages ranging from 11 months old to 84 years old. Your local  Walgreens  and  Rite  Aid  are  offering  COVID-19  vaccinations.  The  Passaic  County  Department  of Health    also    continues    to    offer    COVID-19    vaccinations.  For    more    information,    please    visit: https://www.passaiccountynj.org
