Please be advised, the following projects are now underway on the island, as follows:
Bike Path Rehabilitation
The bike path along Captain Wylly Road is undergoing rehabilitation and will experience intermittent closures. The project began today and the full path is scheduled to reopen within 45 days. The asphalt bike path will be milled, recycled, and replaced with concrete paths. The new concrete paths will be enlarged by two feet in width to 8-foot-wide with a 4-inch thickness.
Flagmen may be present on the roads for intermittent traffic control. Motorists should use caution when traveling along this road and use alternate routes when possible.
Public Playground & Mini Golf Rehabilitation
Jekyll Island Mini Golf is undergoing carpet replacement for its courses and will experience periodic closers to one course during this time. Construction has also begun on the public playground replacement next to Mini Golf, utilizing the approved $250,000 project funding in the Jekyll Island Authority Fiscal Year 22 Budget that began on July 1, 2021. Both projects are scheduled to be completed within 45 days.
