INCIDENT:  2021-14358  Terroristic Threats
                                             Possession of an Imitation Firearm

DATE & TIME OCCURRED:  6/02/21  at  4:16 PM

LOCATION OCCURRED:  U.S. Route 1  &  Meadow Rd.

REPORTING OFFICER:  Ptl. P. Buchanan #5109

WHO: (ARRESTED, INJURED, DRIVER, VICTIM, OTHER)
Arrested:  Nikaiya D. Tift
                 Resident of Trenton, NJ 08618

DETAILS:  West Windsor Police Communications received a 9-1-1 call from a victim who reported that a female passenger in another vehicle pointed a handgun at him while he was driving northbound on U.S. Route 1. Investigation determined the following: The occupants of a grey Hyundai sedan felt that the victim had unsafely cut in front of their vehicle. Road rage ensued, a bottle was thrown at the victim’s car, and culminated in Nikaiya Tift, a rear seat passenger in the Hyundai, pointing a gun directly at the victim as they drove by. The victim called 9-1-1 and followed the Hyundai into South Brunswick. South Brunswick Police located the vehicle and its occupants (who also called 9-1-1 because the victim was following them), and determined that Tift was the person who pointed the handgun. The gun was later determined to be a realistic looking imitation handgun. Det. N. Barber and Ptl. Buchanan took custody of Tift from South Brunswick police. She was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date with Mercer County Superior Court.
