The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Cherokee County in southeastern Kansas... Crawford County in southeastern Kansas...

* Until 845 PM CDT.

* At 743 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Girard, moving south at 30 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* This severe thunderstorm will be near... Cherokee and Weir around 810 PM CDT. Scammon and West Mineral around 815 PM CDT. Columbus around 830 PM CDT. Baxter Springs and Treece around 845 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include Lowell, Sherman, Chicopee, Franklin, Roseland, Neutral, Melrose, Beulah, Greenbush and Riverton. This includes Interstate 44 near mile marker 0.

Instructions:

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
