Highland Police Station Will Begin a Citywide Vehicle Abandonment Enforcement on September 14, 2021

SUMMARY: Beginning September 14, 2021, the Highland Police Station will begin to rid the city streets of unwanted blight which affects quality of life. Deputies from the Highland Station will be assigned to patrol the city streets each month in search of vehicles and trash that pose a safety risk. Deputies will also seach for vehicles where the owners have not properly registered them with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Deputies will tow vehicles that are illegally parked or abandoned.
The following vehicle codes will be strictly enforced:
CVC 4000 (a) Expired Registration
CVC 5200(a) License Plate Required
CVC 22500 e No Parking- Driveway
CVC 22500 f No Parking- Sidewalk
CVC 22500 g Blocking Traffic
CVC 22500 h Double Parked
CVC 22502 Parked on the Wrong Side of the Roadway
CVC 22651(k) Parking Excess of 72 hours
SBCC 52.0119(a) Parking Excess of 72 hours
SBCC 52.0121(f)1 Red Zone Parking
Any resident that has an inoperable, damaged or destroyed vehicle parked on the city streets is encouraged to remove it from the roadway.
The City of Highland and the Highland Station encourage all residents to remove unwanted vehicles and trash from the city streets and store them in an area on their property which does not pose a safety issue for people in the community.
