Narrative: | The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, together with the Ventura County Executive Office, will be hosting four virtual Emergency Preparedness Workshop & Community Feedback Sessions to share information about local hazards, coordinated emergency response efforts, and updates to evacuations and emergency messaging. The online workshops are scheduled for September 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sessions will be hosted in English, Spanish, American Sign Language and Mixteco. Residents may register and select their preferred language at https://www.readyventuracounty.org/calendar-of-events/. “The past year and a half has been challenging for everyone when it comes to contending with the pandemic,” acknowledges Sheriff Bill Ayub, he continued, “We cannot let our guard down when it comes to preparedness during these difficult times. Disaster could strike at any moment and we must remain vigilant and prepared.” Each of the workshops will feature opening remarks from Sheriff Bill Ayub and County Executive Officer Mike Powers. Guest panelists from the cities of Oxnard, Camarillo and Simi Valley will be featured alongside local leaders and preparedness experts from the Ventura County Fire Department, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services and Ventura County Executive Office. Panelists will discuss and answer questions about coordination between local and county-level emergency response and provide updates on current planning efforts. September observes National Preparedness Month and reminds all Americans how important it is for individuals, families and communities to “Prepare to Protect.” The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office would like to invite everyone to take advantage of these educational and interactive workshops to bolster personal readiness and overall community resilience.
