Red Flag Warning for possible dry lightning

RED FLAG WARNING. The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a RED FLAG WARNING for dry lightning, which is in effect from 5 PM today, Thursday, September 9, 2021 until 11 AM on Friday, September 10, 2021. Dry lightning as well as gusty erratic wind potential this afternoon through Friday morning is expected. Upper level moisture continues to increase over the region from south to north. The sub-tropical moisture will interact with an upper level disturbance moving in from the west. Thunderstorm chances increase late this afternoon into early Friday morning as the disturbance moves inland. Thunderstorms will be a mix of wet and dry, but given how dry the fuels are, any lightning strikes will be problematic. The threat for thunderstorms diminishes early Friday as the moisture exits eastward.

Please use extreme caution and extinguish all unnecessary ignition sources. Be advised that parking is restricted in designated areas. If you have not already, consider registering for the Contra Costa County Community Warning System at https://cwsalerts.com/.
