RED FLAG WARNING tonight and tomorrow! Tahoe/Truckee. EXTREME FIRE DANGER. Lightning and wind! No SPARKS!

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 PM THIS EVENING TO 11 PM PDT FRIDAY FOR THE TRUCKEE and TAHOE BASIN AND NORTHEAST CALIFORNIA FOR THUNDERSTORMS AND GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY TONIGHT AND FRIDAY...

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and low humidity, which is in effect from 11 PM this evening to 11 PM PDT Friday. 

* Affected Area.. Fire Zone 272 Greater Lake Tahoe
  and Truckee Area 

* Thunderstorms will move through the region tonight into Friday morning. Dry lightning strikes and gusty outflow winds are possible. There is potential for wetting rains in some of the stronger showers and thunderstorms.

* Winds...Winds will increase through tonight especially in the higher terrain and over ridgelines. Expect southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph tonight into Friday. Gusts may exceed 60 mph in the higher elevations around the Tahoe Basin.

* Humidity...Minimum values of 15 to 25 percent Friday afternoon.

* Impacts...Lightning can create new fire starts and may combine with gusty winds to cause a fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity.

Keep your phone turned on and near your bed during the night so you can get evacuation notices. Always be prepared to evacuate in Fire Season.

Have a GO BAG ready with your important items, have a garden hose and shovel ready, park fueled cars facing out, know two ways out of your neighborhood, pay attention to your phone for evacuation notices and GO EARLY, if you see smoke or think you should go. NO OPEN FLAMES OR SPARKS!
