Suspect charged after threatening a parent and child

On August 30th at 8:30 am, a mother and her 5-year-old son were walking on Telegraph Avenue near Ashby Avenue when a suspect approached them.  The suspect walked in front of the mother and son and began an unrecognizable rant.  Moments later, the suspect grabbed the child’s wrist/jacket cuff for an unknown reason.  When the mother pulled her son away from the suspect, the suspect threatened to harm the child.  Fearing the suspect was going to hurt them, the mother and son ran to the safety of a nearby grocery store and called for help.

When officers arrived, they quickly spotted the suspect a few blocks away and arrested him.

On September 7th, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged the suspect (a 27-year-old man, no address) with felony PC 422(a)—criminal threats.
