Crime Alert Bulletin for the Week of August 30-September 5, 2021

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Wednesday, 09-01-21 at 10:56 p.m., a 28-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage after she was involved in a collision with three other vehicles on the unit block of Garibaldi Street.

On Wednesday, 09-01-21 at approximately 10:58 p.m., Officer Abuan was dispatched to a report of a brandishing/threat call that occurred in the rear alleyway of the apartment complex at Forest Grove Drive and South Mayfair Avenue. The 37-year old reporting party said he was walking back from purchasing cigars from the Chevron station on John Daly Boulevard when he took a short cut home. The reporting party passed by a subject who brandished a 4”-6” knife at him and threatened him. The reporting party described the suspect as a black male adult, 6’, approximately 220 lbs., short black hair, wearing a red hoodie, blue jeans, and black shoes. The subject was gone prior to the officers arriving. This investigation is continued.

On Thursday, 09-02-21 at 7:40 p.m., Officer Risslen contacted a subject in a vehicle parked in the red zone in front of Wing Stop at the Westlake Shopping Center. During a search of the vehicle, Officer Risslen found a loaded Glock 43 handgun with an extended "drum" type magazine, 49 .9mm rounds, and a large amount of suspected marijuana. The subject, a 28-year old San Mateo resident, was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on associated charges.

On Thursday, 09-02-21 at 10:05 p.m., a 44-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and hit and run after being involved in a hit and run collision with several vehicles on the 300 block of Crocker Avenue.

On Friday, 09-03-21 at approximately 9:16 a.m., a 29-year old Pacifica resident drove under the influence of alcohol following a collision at the intersection of King Drive and Verducci Drive. The subject transported to the hospital for a complaint of pain. This case will be forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for prosecution.

On Saturday, 09-04-21 at approximately 9:47 p.m., Officer Tualaulelei was on patrol in the parking lot near Dick’s Sporting Goods when he heard a car repeatedly honk the horn 3-5 times. The officer said the driver stuck his head out the driver’s side window and said something that he could not understand. The officer saw that the vehicle had two front windows that were tinted—which is in violation of the California vehicle code. Officer Tualaulelei conducted a traffic stop and told the subject why he pulled him over. The subject said he was excited that the L.A. Dodgers won the baseball game. The driver and the three of the four passengers were not wearing their seatbelts. Officer Tualaulelei issued the driver, a 24-year old Richmond resident, a citation for driving on a suspended driver's license. The officer issued a citation to one passenger, a 20-year old San Francisco resident, for possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).

On Sunday, 09-05-21 at 8:35 a.m., Officer Perdomo was dispatched to the unit block of Ward Court on report of a man with a knife. The reporting party told the dispatcher that he saw a Hispanic male with long hair in a ponytail and wearing a blue long sleeve shirt, khaki pants, holding a knife behind his back while pacing back and forth. The reporting party said there was no one around the subject and stayed on the line with the dispatcher until police arrived. Officer Perdomo recognized the subject from numerous contacts in the area. The dispatcher advised the officers that the 45-year old subject was on parole for assault with a deadly weapon and was also the restrained party in a served criminal protective order. The order is for the subject to stay 100 yards away from the area, and from his sister. The subject was placed under arrest for violating a court order and for possession of drug paraphernalia (a glass pipe). The officer booked the knife for safekeeping.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
