COVID Alert

Today the City received notification that 8 persons on island have tested positive for COVID-19.  As such the following measures are going into effect:

  • Masks are required in all indoor spaces until further notice
  • Testing is recommended, even for individuals who are vaccinated.  Vaccinated individuals can carry and transmit the virus to others.
  • City Hall will be closed to the public until further notice.  Council meetings will be completely virtual until further notice.
  • Travel to Adak should be avoided at this time.  We are not reimplementing the travel permit process.  Individuals should remember limited medical facilities exist on island, including a limited amount of oxygen available.  There is no guarantee of medical transport off island as Anchorage hospitals are at capacity.
The Adak Medical Clinic will be hosting a "testing clinic" today until 5pm Adak time and again on Sunday from 10am to 5 pm.  We recommend all individuals on Adak be tested however the following are recommended for priority testing:
  • All children and their parents
  • Teachers
  • Unvaccinated individuals
  • Symptomatic individuals, even if vaccinated
Individuals should practice safe distance measures including quarrantine if you suspect you may have come into contact with individuals and/or if you are experiencing any symptoms.

Specific organizations may by publishing their own restrictions, please be on alert for those communications.

Instructions:

Wear a face mask at all times indoors where other individuals may be present. Quarantine if symptomatic and obtain testing at the clinic. Avoid gatherings and travel at this time.
