On Sunday September 12, 2021 at approximately 2:45 AM, Palmdale deputies responded to a call of a traffic collision at the intersection of Division Street and Avenue Q in the City of Palmdale.

Deputies learned a female Black adult, driving a gray 2006 Saturn Ion, was driving westbound on Avenue Q at a high rate of speed. Preliminary investigation indicates the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to collide with a dirt berm and subsequently roll over.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene and provided medical attention to the driver and her passenger (male Black adult). They were both transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries. Witnesses in the area stopped to assist the occupants and contacted emergency services. Both the driver and passenger later succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased at the hospital.

There is an open investigation to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

Palmdale Station Traffic Investigator Detective Liz Sherman responded to the scene. Division Street was closed between Carolside Avenue and Corporate Court during the collision investigation, concluding at approximately 7:00 AM on September 12, 2021.
