Sheriff's Marine Enforcement Unit and U.S. Coast Guard join to conduct inspections over the weekend

INCIDENT: Coast Guard Enforcement
LOCATION: Lake Havasu and Colorado River
SUMMARY: On September 11 and September 12, 2021, the United States Coast Guard assisted San Bernardino County Sheriff's Marine Enforcement Unit on Lake Havasu and the Colorado River. Coast Guard Maritime officers conducted vessel inspections alongside San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies. Coast Guard Maritime officers also conducted Captain inspections for chartered vessels. Coast Guard officers and San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies located several violations of required carriage equipment and chartered vessels.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's Marine Enforcement Unit would like to remind the boating community of the following required equipment when boating: a type IV throwable Personal Floating Device (PFD) readily available, enough PFD’s readily accessible for every person on board the vessel, a serviceable fire extinguisher, and a sounding device on board.
