Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 9/18/21 at 1234 hours, his office was called to investigate a motor vehicle crash with multiple injuries that occurred at the intersection of M 60 and Yankee St in Howard Township, Cass County, Michigan. 

72 yr. old Niles resident, Winnie Gwinn, was turning onto Yankee St when she collided with an oncoming vehicle that was being operated by 63 yr. old Lawrence resident, Isreal Rosalas. Ms. Gwinn and her passenger, 82 yr. old Ray Gwinn of Niles, were transported to St. Joe Medical Center and Mr. Rosalas was transported to Lakeland Niles for treatment of injuries. 

Seatbelts were worn and intoxicating substances are not believed to have been a factor.  This case remains under investigation.

Assisting were Pokagon Band Tribal Police Department, Howard Township Fire Department and First responders, as well as SMCAS Ambulance.
