HARPER WOODS POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL CRASH
Harper Woods, MI- At approximately 1238 a.m. on September 21, 2021, Harper Woods Public Safety personnel were dispatched to the area of east Vernier and north Harper in reference to a traffic crash with injuries. Harper Woods 911 received information that one of the vehicles involved had rolled over and was on fire.
 
Upon arrival, personnel determined that three vehicles were involved in the crash. Initial investigation revealed that a 2021 Ford Expedition occupied by one was traveling east on Vernier when it disregarded a red traffic signal at north Harper. The Expedition struck a 2014 Dodge Charger occupied by two in the intersection and then continued east on Vernier when it struck a 2011 Cadillac CTS occupied by one. The Expedition continued east on Vernier when it came to a stop after colliding with a tree. All vehicle occupants were transported to an area hospital for treatment of traumatic injuries sustained from the collisions. The driver of the Cadillac CTS was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The occupants of the Dodge Charger are in temporary serious condition. Charges are pending for the driver of the Expedition who is also listed in temporary serious condition.
 
Alcohol and speed appear as contributing factors to the collision, but the Harper Woods Public Safety Department with the assistance of a Michigan State Police Accident Investigator and Reconstructionist are conducting a full investigation.
