NPD Traffic High Impact Traffic Team (HITT) Event on 9/23/21

The Newark Police Department Traffic Unit takes part in High ImpactTraffic Team (HITT) detail multiple times a year. This multi-agency detail consists of collaborative effort by traffic units from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, Hayward Police Department, San Leandro Police Department, and Union City Police Department. The detail typically works together for 3 to 4 hours to address primary factors that cause collisions, focusing their efforts in areas near schools and other high complaint areas.

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021 the Newark Police Department hosted a HITT detail. The HITT team, consisting of 18 officers, issued 127 citations for the following:

Speed violations: 75
Cell Phone violations: 18
Stop Sign violations: 9
Unlicensed / Suspended License: 7
Misc. violations: 10
Red Light violations: 1
Pedestrian violations: 3
Bicycle violations: 1
Turning violations: 3
Fail to yield to emergency vehicle violation: 1

NPD thanks the participating agencies for providing the directed enforcement to make our streets and schools safer and is grateful for the community's input in identifying these problem areas.
