FEMA DISASTER SURVIVOR ASSISTANCE TEAMS IN CRANFORD CANVASSING NEIGHBORHOODS AND STATIONED AT ORANGE AVE POOL 9/28
FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) teams will be in Cranford beginning Tuesday Sept 28.
The DSA teams will be canvasing/walking through impacted neighborhoods, distributing informational flyers, and helping impacted residents in the following ways:
- Assisting residents to register for FEMA assistance.
- Checking the status of an application already in the system and can make minor changes to applications.
- Making calls to faith-based organizations, community-based organizations, private sector (businesses) and public libraries that may have the capability to distribute disaster-related information to survivors in the impacted counties.
DSA teams can easily be identified by their federal photo identification and FEMA clothing. New Jersey residents are reminded to ask for official photo identification before sharing personal information.
The teams are following CDC safety guidelines for COVID-19 including social distancing and use of protective equipment.
FEMA also has a fixed site for registration intake within the Township at Orange Avenue Pool that is open starting today 09/28 from 8:00AM until 5:00PM.
Residents are reminded that a full-service FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) is open for all impacted residents at the O’Donnell Senior Center, 618 Salem Avenue in Elizabeth. Hours of operation are M-F 7:00a–7:00p; Sa-Su 8:00-5:00. A full list of DRCs is available on the Township’s website.
