The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Southwestern Rapides Parish in central Louisiana... North Central Allen Parish in southwestern Louisiana... Northern Beauregard Parish in southwestern Louisiana... Vernon Parish in west central Louisiana... Northern Newton County in southeastern Texas...

* Until 1145 AM CDT.

* At 841 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 4 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... De Ridder, Leesville, Newton, Rosepine, Glenmora, Merryville, Elizabeth, Fort Polk, Slagle, Sugartown, Pitkin, Toledo Bend Dam, Burkeville, Hineston, Grant, New Llano, Cravens, Fullerton, Burr Ferry and Junction.
