Suspect: Tadasse, David 45-year old male (In-custody)

On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at approximately 5:10 AM, Redwood City Police Officers observed a reported stolen vehicle in the process of parking in the driveway of a residence on Glenwood Avenue in Redwood City.  Officers attempted to contact the driver, later identified as David Tadasse.   Tadasse exited the vehicle and aggressively yelled and charged at officers.  Officers issued verbal commands to the suspect to stop and get on the ground in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.  The suspect continued to charge at officers.  Officers resorted to using non-lethal force by deploying a Taser.  Tadasse was taken into custody and arrested without injury.

Officers searched the vehicle and located a loaded and un-serialized 9mm handgun.  Additionally, 19.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine and several hundred dollars was located in the vehicle.  Tadasse was transported and booked at the San Mateo County Jail for numerous felony and misdemeanor charges to include a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance for sale, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
