Argument over parking space leads to gunfire; one arrested

SUSPECT(S): Deshawn Peters Johnson, 51-year-old resident of Apple Valley
VICTIM(S): 47-year-old male resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On Sunday, October 2, 2021, at approximately 12:06 pm, deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department were dispatched to the 20000 block of Serrano Road following the report of a shooting. Deputies arrived to find a male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment and is currently listed in stable condition.
Upon investigation, deputies determined the suspect, later identified as Deshawn Johnson, confronted the victim for parking in his parking space. There was a brief argument, and Johnson shot the victim before fleeing the scene.
On Monday, October 4, 2021, Johnson was arrested without incident and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for attempted murder. He is scheduled to appear in the Victorville Superior Court on October 6, 2021 and is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.
