DETAILS:  Patrol Units were detailed to Old Trenton Rd. for a gold 2 door BMW that was stopped in the roadway facing in the wrong direction. The reporter, a member of the West Windsor Volunteer Fire Company, tried to wake the driver whose foot was on the brake with the car still in “Drive”, but he was unresponsive. Prior to police arrival, West Windsor Emergency Services entered the vehicle and put the vehicle into “Park”. Investigation determined that the driver, Carlos Torres-Alvarracin had fallen asleep behind the wheel and was DWI. He was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date with West Windsor Municipal Court.

DETAILS:  Ptl. C. Van Ness and Ptl. M. Fattibene were conducting a speed enforcement detail on Old Trenton Rd. when they observed a black Honda Civic traveling 24 mph over the posted 45 mph speed limit (69 mph). The vehicle also failed to maintain its lane of travel, and the vehicle was stopped for the violations. During the stop, Magno Lopez-Terron was determined to be DWI. Found inside his vehicle were both open and empty containers of alcoholic beverages. Lopez-Terron was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date with West Windsor Municipal Court.

DETAILS:  Ptl. Caulfield investigated a hit and run accident involving a Jeep Grand Cherokee that drove off of the roadway and struck a crosswalk ahead warning sign. After the crash, the Jeep left the scene. While Ptl. Caulfield was speaking to a witness who saw the crash, the involved Jeep drove by. The witness alerted Ptl. Caulfield who went to stop the Jeep. Before he was able to initiate a stop, he observed the Jeep go through a red light, then drive very slowly impeding traffic, and then cross over double yellow lines. After the vehicle was stopped, and during the investigation, Ptl. Caulfield observed the driver, Dayna Egan, to be falling asleep in the driver’s seat. There was also significant damage to her Jeep. Egan was determined to be DWI and arrested. After processing she was released pending a future date with West Windsor Municipal Court.

DETAILS:  Patrol Units were detailed to a crash involving a Nissan sedan that struck the center barrier. Investigation determined that the car had been traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway to the right where it struck a sign, then an electrical box, then back onto U.S. Route 1, crossing several lanes of travel, before going front-end first into the concrete highway divider. The driver, Asif Mehedi was determined to be DWI, and due to some minor injuries, he was transported to the hospital. Mehedi was released from custody at the hospital and has a future date pending with West Windsor Municipal Court.

DETAILS: Patrol Units responded to a shoplifting in progress at Wegmans. Two suspects were observed on store video surveillance concealing large quantities of expensive eye drops and teeth whitening strips into both a satchel and large handbag. The couple then proceeded to walk through the checkout lanes without paying for anything, and were met by officers as they exited the store. The stolen items in their possession were valued at over $900.00. The suspects were identified as Joseph Burke and Catharine Guinn. They were processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending future dates at Mercer County Superior Court.

DETAILS: Ptl. C. Van Ness and Ptl. M. Fattibene were traveling on U.S. Route 1 in a marked patrol vehicle when two vehicles drove past them at a high rate of speed. They sped up to intercept and observed that one of the vehicles, a Mercury sedan, was driving aggressively and tailgated vehicles in front of it. The Mercury sedan also made an unsafe lane change directly in front of another vehicle, and failed to maintain its lane of travel. A stop was initiated on the Mercury sedan when the officers finally caught up to it. During the stop, the driver, Brian Bullock was determined to be DWI. He was arrested and transported to WWPD Headquarters. He refused to cooperate during arrest processing, so in addition to the DWI related charges, he was charged with obstructing the administration of law.

DETAILS:  Patrol Units were detailed to a residential burglary to a home on Village Rd. East. Investigation determined that while the residents were away (for a little over an hour and a half in the late afternoon), someone entered their house through an unlocked side door. Items that were stolen included medication, cash, a wallet, car key fob, a debit card, and identification cards.
