Shooting Suspect Arrested by Gun Violence Reduction Team
On 09/22/21, at approximately 6:10 p.m., witnesses reported a shooting near Overacker Ave. and Spetti Dr. Patrol officers responded and located shell casings in the roadway. There were no victims located at the scene. Video surveillance was recovered and a suspect vehicle was identified.
Gun Violence Reduction Team (GVRT) Detectives were able to identify the location of the suspect vehicle and initiated surveillance on a potential suspect. On 09/29/21, GVRT personnel located the suspect seated in the suspect vehicle. A high-risk enforcement stop was conducted and 18-year-old Antonio Sandoval of Fremont was detained.
A search warrant was then conducted on the vehicle and an associated residence in the 37000 block of Vallejo St. A loaded non-serialized firearm was located within the vehicle. Sandoval was arrested and booked at Santa Rita Jail on charges of carrying a loaded firearm and negligent discharge of a firearm. Sandoval's bail was set at $90,000 which he posted the following day. Sandoval was released from custody on 09/30/21 with a 11/29/21 court date.
