Flood Warning until 10:00PM Thursday

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flood Warning for... Northwestern Habersham County in northeastern Georgia...

* Until 1000 PM EDT Thursday.

* At 1039 AM EDT, In response to widespread 2-4 inches of rainfall over the past 24 hours, the Soque River between Batesville, Clarkesville, and the Chattahoochee River is above Minor Flood Stage and impacting adjacent low-lying areas including Pitts Park and Beaverdam Rd in Clarkesville. The river is expected to crest in Clarkesville between 14.8 and 15.0 feet over the next 1-2 hours and begin a gradual recession this afternoon, falling below Minor Flood Stage by late this afternoon and below Action/Advisory Stage later tonight. Please avoid all low-lying areas and flooded roadways and obey all barricades.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include... Clarkesville and Demorest.

* Additional heavy rainfall is not expected through the early afternoon hours but additional heavy rainfall is possible later tonight and early Friday. Please stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings in case new rounds of flooding develop.

* AFFECTED AREAS: HABERSHAM, GA
