Two Catalytic Converter Theft Suspects Arrested by Apple Valley Deputies

SUSPECT(S): Jessica Monroy, 32-year-old, resident of Phelan
Gabriel Gonzalez, 36-year-old, resident of Hesperia
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Sunday, August 22, 2021, at approximately 6:15 a.m., two suspects, a male adult and a female adult, stole a catalytic converter from a Ford F-250 awaiting repair at Mojave Paint & Body located in the 22000 block of Powhatan Road in the Town of Apple Valley.
After a lengthy investigation, Deputy Rollins identified the two suspects as convicted felons, Gabriel Gonzalez and Jessica Monroy. However, at the time of this discovery, Gabriel was already in custody at the High Desert Detention Center for an unrelated charge.
On Wednesday, October 06, 2021, Jessica was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for PC487(A), Grand Theft. Gabriel was also charged with PC487(A) in addition to an unrelated charge.
The investigation into the recycling center that accepted this stolen catalytic converter is ongoing, and any evidence suggesting unlawful or improper conduct will be thoroughly addressed.
