The 7 Principles of Xeriscape!

Plan & Design: Take a look at your site conditions and pin point shady and sunny areas. Do you want to attract wildlife and which areas would you like for viewing?
Asses the Soil: Analyze the soil before you begin. It is best to select plants suited for your existing soil conditions.
Select the right plants: Select different plants for different areas, place them together based on the changes over time.
Use grass wisely: Grass requires more maintenance and more water than any other area in your landscape.
Apply Mulch: Mulching helps conserve water, it adds nutrients to the soil when it decomposes and shades the soil from direct sunlight, prevents soil erosion, reduces weeds, maintenance and upkeep.
Water Efficiently: Watering slowly and long enough will prevent water run-off which will allow water to get to the root systems.
Maintain:  Proper planning, plant selection, watering, and mulching result in an effective low maintenance landscape.
