Rialto Police detectives and the Street Crime Attack Team identified Abah Ahmed Mahammed Jr. of Perris, California as the suspect who shot and killed William Schwartz on October 9, 2021. On Saturday, October 10, 2021, at approximately 1245 pm, officers from the Rialto Police Department located Mahammed Jr. driving a vehicle in the City of Perris. Mahammed Jr. was stopped, taken into custody without incident and booked into the West Valley Detention Center with a bail set for $1,000,000.

On Saturday, October 9, 2021, at approximately 5:30 am, the Rialto Police Department Communications Center received a call regarding someone being shot by a solo male suspect. The victim was reported as being inside a motorhome in the wash area south of the Rosena Ranch residential community. Rialto Police officers began searching the area to locate any potential victims, witnesses or suspects. The victim was located and found to have suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Rialto Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced the victim deceased at 6:26 AM. Rialto Police Detectives were called to the scene and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
