Crime Alert Bulletin for the weeks of September 27-Oct 10, 2021 (Two weeks of information)

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 09-27-21 at 2:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on the 200 block of San Fernando Way on a report of an in-progress residential burglary by male subjects with guns. One of the victims said she and another family member were the only one home at the time of the incident. The 54-year old victim said she was doing the dishes when she was suddenly grabbed from behind by the top of her robe. She said she turned, and she saw a male subject holding a semi-automatic handgun who was pointing it at her face. The victim said the suspect asked if anyone else was home, and she told him no. The suspect then pushed the victim to the downstairs kitchen, while keeping his hand on her collar. The victim said her other family member was already sitting at the table, with another male suspect standing next to her. The first suspect was on the cellphone with someone and stayed with the victims while the house was being ransacked by the suspect’s accomplices. The loss included a large amount of currency and various jewelry. The victim described the first suspect as either a black or Hispanic male, approximately 30 years old, wearing a black ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt with a Warriors logo on the front, black sweatpants, black gloves, and black shoes. The victim described the second suspect much like the first, except for he wore a gray hooded sweatshirt. The suspects fled the residence in an unknown direction. The investigation is continued.

On Wednesday, 09-29-20 at 10:00 p.m., numerous officers were dispatched to a residence on the 500 block of Atlanta Street on report of a welfare check. The reporting party said her sister got into an argument with her boyfriend, and she was scared because there is a history of violence between them. The reporting party said her 23-year old sister was at her boyfriend’s residence but she could not leave. The dispatchers advised the boyfriend was on probation and subject to search and seizure. When the officers arrived, they knocked on the door for 3-4 minutes before a female eventually came to the door. The officers asked where the male subject was, and the subject came to the front door. The officers asked where his girlfriend was, and he said she was not there. The officers heard a female call out from the other room. Due to the mention of a firearm, the officers conducted a probation search of the common areas and the subject’s room, and they found an extended magazine. The officers arrested the 25-year old subject for possession of an extended magazine and violating the terms of his probation.

On Thursday, 09-30-21 at 5:00 a.m., our Crime Suppression Unit, detectives and tactical team served a search warrant at a residence on the unit block of Monterey Avenue. It was determined the residence was being used as an illegal gambling establishment with coin operated machines. Our officers found illegal gambling machines, large quantities of illegal drugs, a large amount of U.S. currency, and several firearms. Detectives arrested four adult subjects residing at the residence who were booked for a variety of charges associated with the drugs, guns, and illegal gambling.

On Saturday, 10-02-21 at 10:49 a.m., Officer Chittenden was dispatched to the laundromat at St. Francis Square on a report of a male who appeared to have a large knife. Officer Chittenden responded and immediately recognized a subject who was a violent parolee from multiple prior police contacts. Following a short investigation after finding a machete, Officer Chittenden arrested the suspect, a 45-year old Daly City resident, for a parole violation.

On Sunday, 10-03-21 at approximately 9:00 p.m., Officer Dhaliwal and Sergeant Aquila were dispatched to the intersection of Mission Street and Templeton Avenue on a report of a stabbing. Sergeant Aquila was trying to get the attention of a subject whose hands and face were covered in blood. That subject was walking towards another subject who appeared to be injured. The first victim, a 20-year old Daly City resident said he was stabbed in the back by an unknown suspect only described as a light skinned Hispanic male, 5’7”, clean shaven, black shoulder length curly/frizzy hair, wearing a black mask, light blue jacket, and a dark blue baseball hat. The other victim, a 29-year old female Daly City resident, was the victim of a battery by an unknown female suspect only described as dark skinned, 5’2”, black hair in a tight bun, and wearing tight pants. Both were treated by paramedics, and this investigation is continuing.

On Monday, 10-04-21 at 11:22 a.m., Officer Hepler conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Home Depot. The driver, a 39-year old Albany resident, failed to return the vehicle from the rental car company who had reported the vehicle stolen. Officer Hepler arrested the driver for being in possession of an embezzled vehicle.

On Friday, 10-08-21 at 10:37 p.m., a 54-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence following a minor traffic collision into his garage door on the 100 block of Huntington Drive.

On Saturday, 10-09-21 at 2:02 a.m., a 23-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, and driving with a suspended driver's license after she was pulled over by Officer Smith for having no headlights on her vehicle at the intersection of East Moltke Street and Hillside Boulevard.

On Sunday, 10-10-21 at 2:49 p.m., a 25-year old Daly City resident said she was getting into her car parked on Cottonwood Drive and Hillside Boulevard when she saw a male subject with his penis exposed through the front zipper of his pants standing next to the right front quarter panel of her vehicle. The reporting party said the male had a cellphone in his hand, and the camera lens appeared to be pointing in her direction. The reporting party said the male was masturbating as he walked past her. The reporting party honked her horn to try to scare him. The reporting party reported this on-line, so it was too late for officers to look for the subject.

On Sunday, 10-10-21 at 8:11 p.m., Officer Greene arrested a 38-year old Daly City resident for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage after the subject was involved in a collision with a parked vehicle on the 100 block of Serravista Avenue

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
