CPL. DAVID COOK RETIRES
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office honored Cpl. David Cook with a reception to acknowledge his retirement.
Cpl. Cook retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service including Operation Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom.
After retiring from the military, Cpl. Cook held several jobs until he became employed as an Exceptional Teacher’s Assistant with Rutherford County Schools at the Rutherford Opportunity Center. While still working at the Rutherford Opportunity Center Cpl. Cook felt the desire to enter into a law enforcement career and become a school resource officer.
Through the sponsorship of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, Cpl. Cook enrolled into the Isothermal B.L.E.T. Program.
Cpl. Cook graduated B.L.E.T. and remained a teacher assistant at the Rutherford Opportunity Center until the S.R.O. position became open.
Cpl. Cook has been serving as the school resource officer at the Rutherford Opportunity Center for the past 6 1/2 years

Cpl. Cook’s last working day is October 15, 2021 and his official retirement date is November 1, 2021.
Sheriff Chris Francis presented Cpl. Cook with an engraved crystal, his Corporal badge, and his service weapon.
Sheriff Francis thanked Cpl. Cook for his dedicated service to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, and the citizens of Rutherford County.
