Narrative: | |||||
Investigators with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office completed a robbery investigation by arresting two suspects involved in the planning and execution of the crime. On 10/5/21, at approximately 9:00 PM, deputies from the Camarillo Police Station responded to a reported armed robbery at a business in the 2100 block of E. Ventura Blvd in the City of Camarillo. Witnesses reported a male suspect entered the business with a firearm and demanded cash and merchandise. After receiving the cash and merchandise, the suspect fled the area in a black hatchback style vehicle. Investigators from the Major Crimes Bureau collaborated with patrol services, Camarillo Detectives, and the Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail (SED) to investigate this crime. Zander Harris was identified as the suspect who committed the robbery, and a search warrant was served at his residence and on his vehicle. Evidence was located which tied Harris to the crime. During the continued investigation, detectives determined Harris was a past employee of the business he robbed. Detectives learned Harris conspired with a current employee of the business, Erik Hagen, and the two formulated the plan for a staged robbery. On the night of the staged robbery, Hagen was the sole employee working when Harris came in with a loaded firearm and committed the staged robbery. A search warrant was served at Erik Hagen’s residence and evidence was located that tied Hagen to the crime. Harris and Hagen were arrested and booked at the Ventura County Jail for charges related to the staged robbery to include grand theft with a special enhancement of carrying out the crime with a loaded firearm. Harris remains in custody with bail set at $150,000, while Hagen bailed out of custody. Harris’ next court date is set for 10/21/21 and Hagen’s court date is set for 10/25/21. |
