INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Base Line Road & Ellena Way East, Rancho Cucamonga
Driver 1: Male, 30-years-old, Rancho Cucamonga resident
Vehicle 1: White, 2019 Chevrolet Silverado
Driver 2: Male, 28-years-old, Rancho Cucamonga resident
Vehicle 2: black, 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle
Summary:
On October 8, 2021, at 11:28 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Station responded to a traffic collision at Base Line Road and Elllena Way East.
Through preliminary investigation, deputies determined Driver 1 was traveling east on Base Line Road at Ellena Way East and merged into the left turn lane. Driver 2 was traveling west on Base Line Road approaching Ellena Way East. Driver 1 turned left into the intersection to head north on Ellena Way East when Driver 2 collided into the passenger side of the vehicle.
Fire personnel from the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department responded to the scene to render medical aid. Driver 2 was transported by AMR Ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
On October 11, 2021, Driver 2 succumbed to his injuries.
The collision is currently under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T). Anyone with any information regarding the collision is urged to contact the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department at the number below.
