On October 17th at approximately 3:30 PM, a vehicle was stolen from residential driveway located on County Route 523 in the area of Barley Sheaf Rd. Vehicle burglaries were also reported at a residence on Smith Rd and in Raritan Township. It is believed that all of these thefts or attempted thefts occurred around the same time. In some cases, the resident was home at the time the crimes were committed.
Car thefts are becoming increasingly common across the state however in our area, they are more common at night. Recent crime reports suggest that criminals are becoming more brazen, as several surrounding towns reported occurrences similar to the ones in Readington Township in the recent past. This is a reminder to remain vigilant at all times and report suspicious activity, even if during the day.
