Convicted Felon Arrested for Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Narcotics While Armed

LOCATION: 7300 block of Oneida Trail, Big River, CA
SUSPECT(S): Richard Peters, 68-year-old, resident of Big River, CA
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at approximately 9:00 a.m., investigators from the Colorado River Station served a search warrant at Richard Peters residence, located in the 7300 block of Oneida Trail in Big River, CA. During the service of the search warrant, investigators located a loaded handgun, ammunition, a large quantity of methamphetamine, scales, paraphernalia, and packaging materials.
Richard Peters is a convicted felon and was consequently arrested, booked, and transported to the High Desert Detention Center for multiple charges including, PC29800(a)(1), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and HS11370(1)(a), possession of narcotics while armed. Peters remains in custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, with a bail amount of $50,000, awaiting a court hearing.
