Drug Distributor Sentenced to Prison
On July 12, 2021, Marvin Donald Branch II, of 5334 US 70 E in Nebo, pled guilty in McDowell County Superior Court to 2 counts of Trafficking in Methamphetamine. He was given a consolidated active sentence of 225 to 282 months in the NC Department of Adult Corrections.
This sentence comes following an investigation by the McDowell County Drug Enforcement. McDowell County Sheriff Ricky Buchanan stated, “detectives had been investigating Branch for illegal drug activities for some time.”
On April 4, 2020, Detectives with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office and the Marion Police Department seized 60 grams of Methamphetamine from Branch during a vehicle stop.
Then on Dec. 18, 2020, Detectives searched Branch’s U.S. 70 East home and seized 522 grams of methamphetamine, 40 grams of heroin, US currency and several firearms.

They spend countless hours combatting these drug trafficking organizations and I commend them.” Officers with the Marion Police Department, Agents with the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation and the McDowell District Attorney’s Office assisted in the case.
