Flood Watch until 03:00AM Monday
The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a
* Flood Watch for a portion of northwest California, including the following areas, Northeastern Mendocino Interior, Northern Lake, Southern Humboldt Interior, Southern Trinity, and Southwestern Humboldt.
* From late Saturday night through late Sunday night
* 4 to 6 inches of rain are forecast to fall Sunday for coastal and valley locations, with 5 to 8 inches possible along southwest facing mountains and ridges. Heavy rain combined with saturated soil from recent rains across the mountains will contribute toward possible flooding. Additionally, rain rates during Sunday morning may near threshold values for flash flooding in the August Complex, with hourly rainfall rates possibly reaching 1 to 1.2 inches per hour.
* Low lying areas, creeks, streams, culverts, and portions of urban areas may experience flooding due to heavy rainfall. Heavily burned areas may have an increased risk of flash flooding.
* AFFECTED AREAS: SOUTHWESTERN HUMBOLDT ... SOUTHERN HUMBOLDT INTERIOR ... SOUTHERN TRINITY ... NORTHEASTERN MENDOCINO INTERIOR ... NORTHERN LAKE COUNTY
Instructions:
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
