Atmospheric river storm: Flash flood watch issued, Sunday could be wettest day in more than two years in Bay Area

 

Much of Northern California is bracing for one of the strongest storms of the year, as an atmospheric river approaches the region, and with it, the potential for flooding, power outages and landslides. So far, rains were relatively light, but they still managed to knock out power to tens of thousands of PG&E customers. 
Saturday’s cloudy, mild weather is the “calm before the storm”: Light rain is expected in the North Bay this afternoon before Sunday’s “atmospheric river” brings strong winds and heavy, intense rainfall, according to Ryan Walbrun, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
