Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide investigators are continuing to investigate the circumstances involving a deputy-involved shooting. The incident occurred on Sunday, October 23, 2021, between 9:30 and 10:30 pm., near the 38200 block of Pioneer Drive in Palmdale.
Palmdale Station sheriff deputies responded to the location regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call where shots fired were heard inside of the location. When deputies arrived, they contacted a witness who stated the suspect was inside the location armed with a handgun. Deputies contained the residence and gave the suspect commands to exit the location.
A short time later, the suspect appears at an upstairs bedroom window armed with a handgun. It’s believed the suspect fired his handgun at the deputies and a deputy involved shooting occurred. The deputies again gave additional commands for the suspect to exit the location. After several minutes, the suspect exited the location and was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect was not struck by gunfire. The suspect did sustain minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital to be treated. The suspect was shortly released and transported to the Palmdale Sheriff Station for booking.
A handgun possessed by the suspect was recovered from the scene.
No deputies were injured in this incident.

The suspect was treated at the scene by responding paramedics
No deputies were injured.

Whenever an Officer Involved Shooting occurs involving Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies and it results in the wounding of a suspect, multiple independent investigations immediately begin at the scene. These include separate investigations by the Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney in addition to investigations by Sheriff's Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau. The Office of the Inspector General is also present. Once concluded, every aspect of the shooting is reviewed by the Sheriff's Executive Force Review Committee.
