Standing Water on Petaluma Avenue near Abbott Avenue & Power Outages
Due to the extreme amounts of rain over the past several hours, there is a considerable amount of standing water on the roadway in the area of Petaluma Avenue just south of Abbott Avenue. Travel in this area should be avoided unless absolutely necessary due to the hazardous conditions. At the time of this Nixle, the road is still passable to vehicles, however extreme caution should be exercised. Drive through that area very slowly and be aware the situation could cahnge and the road become impassable at any time. If you have any doubts your vehicle will make it through a flooded area, TURN AROUND. This Nixle relates specifically to the Petaluma Ave/Abbott Ave area, but caution should be taken driving anywhere in the county today. Slow down, watch for roadway obstructions (trees, powerlines, etc.), or better yet, stay home if possible.
Much of the city is also without power due to fallen trees and powerlines. Some traffic signals are not functioning as a result, including at Main Street/Sebastopol Avenue. Use caution at these intersections and treat them as if they are controlled by stop signs. The police department does not have any information about when the power will be restored. Contact PG&E if you have questions related to the power outage.
